Choosing A Dress for a Wedding Party | 2019

It's very rare that I get invited anywhere, let alone a Wedding Party. So when I found out about the invite, I got an instant panic of "what will I wear?" and the usual panic-mode Q's that come to mind. Followed by positive, happy thoughts as it meant I could get all glam for the event.

For me, at the moment, clothes shopping has proven a very difficult thing to do since gaining weight from my last two surgeries (bare in mind, it's been over 2 years) however, it's made me feel SO insecure. But I took the negative block and launched it into a glasshouse, metorphorically of course, and shattered it in order to push myself and find something suitable for this party.

As it's in May this year, I don't have much time so I jumped online, typing "Wedding Party Dresses" and here's what came up:

ASOS
If i was to say that I'd never used to wear dresses or being 'girly' I don't think anyone would take me seriously as my style has definitely changed over the years, along with my confidence which has been for the best.

First to come up was this Puff Sleeve Broderie Tea Dress (£32.00) now, I know it says tea dress but... hear me out. A summer wedding party = hot weather... (well you'd like to hope in England), so it dawned on me to wear something light and floaty and this fit in with an expectation of what I'd hope to choose for the event. However, now I'm sat looking it does look more like a beach day/afternoon tea type of dress but thats ok! nothing is set in stone but I sooooo love it, it's a pretty number. Although I'm very nervous wearing anything white (yes I'm that person) I'm stepping out my comfort zone and going for it, well, wishing it for now ha.

The second dress, is however like the first BUT... the Milkmaid Broderie Mini Dress (£32.00) has the type of style I'd go for on a summers day, when the party vibes are happening and it's beginning to get cooler. Although, I don't know if I'm loving it as much as I thought I would. Not something I'd usually go for, but I still think it would look amazing with a pair of wedges and some beautiful accessories. I have hope!

The last dress I came across on ASOS (omg that rhymed) was the Button Through Broderie Tea Dress (£35.00) and oh my heavens, it's literally my ideal dress to wear. I love it, it fits with my vision of how I want to look at the wedding party. Not too 'dressed up' but not too 'underdressed', it meets in the middle and out of the three I think this one would be my top pick! Usually, white dresses aren't usually my thing, as I feel like they don't compliment my body shape very well, but branching out of my comfort zone to finding the perfect dress... I think I may be close!

MISSGUIDED

I don't think I've ever shopped at Missguided... could be telling a fib there but doesn't ring a bell! Now, after spending ages trying to find something that would look nice on me, I finally found a dress that just left me speechless which is a Blush Floral Lace Wrap Front Mini Dress (£27.00) I used to own a dress similar to this one and it brought back good memories. So discovering that this dress was no longer available in my size was quite the bummer I must say and at a reaosnable price it's like the DREAM, literally.

BOOHOO

BooHoo has been like my second 'bae' over the years... yes, I'm obsessed and not ashamed to admit it. So every now and then I appear to find myself on there quite a lot and well, I found some AMAZING picks.

I've actually noticed a theme with the white dresses I've chatted about in this post, they are all Broiderie material and I didn't even notice until now. Anywho, the first dress in this section is a Broiderie Anglaise Cut Back Summer Dress (£19.00) and it has made me just spiral out of my own mind with trying to decide what dress I'd actually choose. I mean, can we just admire the back of it for a loooooooong minute? It's the type of dress I'd wear in a heartbeat and the back of it, with a gorgeous looking tan, would look beautiful.

Another TOP pick of mine thats been on my wishlist for a while actually is a Boutique Off Shoulder Lace Skater Dress (£30.40 RRP, £40.00) which has been on sale for a while now and I'm itching to buy it but I don't really have many events that I go to and wearing it just for around the house would spoil such a nice dress as no one would get to see it. However, I've stepped away from the white and dived in head first to the Wine type colours and some major vibing is happening right now. It's definitely my sort of style that I'd wear out, especially for a wedding party as it looks very nice and comfy. With a pair of nice heels/wedges it would look stunning.

Last but no means least, I came across this Teal Button Through Shirt Dress (£16.72 RRP, £22.00) which is more suitable for a night time vibe for the party. It's nice if you want to be covered up for the evening, which in my case, may be the option I take. Everyone needs a pop of colour when it comes to dresses so finding one in my second favourite colour, just gave me all the right feels! I absolutely love it, just a tad unsure on if it would suit my body shape but never say never, right?!

What dress would you choose?

Coming Back to Blogging!

Well, it's certainly been a while since I sat at my laptop and came on here to do what I love. I needed to leave this platform at a standstill around New year and have some time away to process what's going on in my personal life and to you know, sort myself out properly. I've not posted anything in 4 months? well, anything considered 'proper' since I was rushed into surgery last October. It's been a Godsend to have a break to just unwind and to have that time to focus on myself for a while.

Another reason I took this break was so I could decide what content was going to be published on here. My thoughts clouded my goals for this blog, immediately jumping to the worst about my content which affected my creativity to the point all my enjoyment in blogging had faded as I was trying to be perfect, following trends and what everyone else is doing. So it got me thinking... I'm not going to keep worrying about what my 'Niche' is as I will post about anything and everything from Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle, Travel, Fitness and so on, more so to suit my desire to have my platform as an escape from what I HAVE TO be writing about, review, wear etc.
My blog was created more or less to be different, to show my personality. Even though there are some good points, I feel like I began to sink so I stopped posting.

The vision I have for this space to call my own is what I want to be fun and more relaxed. I often found myself comparing my blog to other peoples and it's a crap feeling. I don't have a theme yet, I used to but couldn't get my comments on it working. I don't have hundreds of followers or readers because I've been so out of touch with being on here recently, it's not really attracted anyone. I don't have the most high-end photo's or camera to take them on and that's ok. I'll work towards all that but for now, getting everything out my head and written down is my first goal.

I hope you enjoy this next step with Just Me, Jaydee.
