Hola, everyone!
So I have been attending the cinema pretty frequently over the past few weeks and went to see some amazing new films (duh...) but yeah, I went to see Passengers and it was amazing. As I studied Film and Television at University, I have always been obsessed with watching new content and reviewing it. Although I wasn't too interested in reviewing films at University, I have found my feet with my passion again and I am so happy. If you don't know what Passengers is, Keep reading! I'll try and not spoil it for anyone (sorry if I do).
As soon as I saw the Passengers Trailer, I immediately was like "I have to see that" so I did and I was not disappointed. If you're a big Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence fan then watch this film. You will see a different side to them that you haven't really seen before.
The story itself took a while to unfold but the romance behind it is so beautiful and the atmosphere of being in space is freaking awesome. Have you ever imagined being put to sleep to experience life in another dimension? I have, once or twice and this film is the perfect scenario of how it would be.
Can I also just point out the CGI and special effects of this film are spot on. Definitely gives a more realistic vibe to the film and makes you feel like you're a part of their space world. It's incredible.
Good films have to have strong characters to watch them develop or rise from their usual routines. Without it, a film will flop. Jennifer plays a character who's a journalist and is experiencing the 'other world' in order to report back to the future of people back on earth. She definitely had big shoes to fill for this character and nailed it to the core. We are used to seeing her as a badass fighting hero, right? well, in this she is a love-struck 'hero' lol. Chris Pratt's character took a while to unfold as at the beginning you're just getting to know who he is, what his purpose is and why he wants to know Jennifer's character. He played his big scene of opening the fan of the ship (I think it's a fan...?) and being blown out into space, really well. It was so surreal and I actually nearly cried. Watch the film and you'll see what I mean. There aren't really that many Sci-fi genre films that I really like and although I love romantic films, I wasn't really expecting it to work in this film. But it did. The robot bartender grew on me too, I mean it's not every day you see that!
The film is more or less based on very few characters which is good for experimenting in the film industry, but it just worked really well and I couldn't be more happy for the success of it. The majority of the time, people want to see loads of big names working together which catches more attention from the public. I could go on a massive rant about this however, I won't. But having very few characters for the film (other than the bodies that were 'sleeping') is a better way for the selected characters to develop without too much going on, for it to be confusing. Am I making sense? probably not but oh well.
I won't go into detail for a really long review so I've just mentioned a few points that I enjoyed when I went to see it and just wanted to express how amazing it is. If you go see it, enjoy! Sorry if I've ruined it for anyone but it's just so freaking good not to share.
Thanks for reading!
