Birchbox Wishlist | 2018

The last time I was crazy for birchbox was probably back in 2016/17. I had 3 boxes on subscription before things got tough in this thing we call life. Although recently, I've been browsing the website and wanted to share some items that have made it to my wishlist!

Skin and Hair-care:

Amie Naturally Kind: Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash - I swear by this facial wash. If you have dry skin like myself, it's the best thing for it. The scrub itself is so delicate on the face, it also brings all the hidden impurities and dead skin cells to the surface. After use, it leaves your skin feeling and looking so radiant and soft. I can't wait to re-order this and try it out again after a year away from it. My skin definitely needs some TLC right now!

Bioré: baking soda pore cleanser - I'm familiar with the nose strips from Boots, but I didn't know this was a thing! Especially with baking soda. I'm all for trying new things on my skin, especially because each day is never the same. My pores are quite bad at the moment so this could be the ideal thing my skin needs to bounce back to life.

Benefit 'The Pore-fessional' - Again, another pore cleanser but I am willing to try anything to radiate my skin and make it look less zombie-like. As a 23-year-old, some days it's like my skin is resembling someone in their 40s with how rough and moggy I look/feel. One thing I want to achieve this year is clearing my skin and looking after it a lot better.

Amie Naturally Kind: Gently Cleansing Micellar Water - My favourite type of products are those that are naturally blended. I've used Micellar water before by a different brand and didn't really get along with it as it completely dried my skin right up! I wanted to give this a whirl to see if it lived up to the facial wash & I'm praying it does. Won't lie, I'm rather excited.

Bioré: Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser - This is similar to the one above & I'm all for the deep pore dig ups! I like being able to see what my skin hides from me, as weird as that sounds I just find it highly fascinating. After hearing great things about this cleanser, it's made me want to try it to see if its compatible with my skin!

Beauty Protector: Protect and Detangle - My hair LOVES this protect and detangling spray. I kid you not, it made my hair feel sensational. You know when the woman on the Herbal Essences advert screams 'yes'? well this my friends will make you do the same but louder. It helped nourish my hair back to health as I do dye my hair every other month and it just lost all life within it. Extremely pumped to use it again! I didn't even realise there was a bigger version on the website, so this has made me exceptionally happy.

Beauty:

Clinique: High Impact Mascara - After reading some reviews, speaking to people within shops who work for Clinique and more or less watching some Youtubers comment on it, I decided to follow the pack and put this within my list of things to try. I need a new mascara as my makeup collection is rather small and repetitive. Clinique as a brand as amazing so the mascara definitely has some shoes to fill that's for sure!

Benefit High Brow Glow Pencil - Let's be honest, I don't really know how to use this but trying new products is on my list of things to do. If you have any recommendations on how to apply this, please let me know. Other than that, I'm looking forward to my first brow Benefit makeup experience!

Benefit 'They're real' Tinted Lash Primer - Youtubers & bloggers have made me do it... ever heard that phrase? It's quite popular. I've seen some of my favourite people use this and I also used it for my Graduation Ball back in 2016 and adored it that much I've re-discovered it to try again. Pumped!

Benefit 'Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow' Foundation - I haven't ever used a foundation that wasn't by Rimmel London. Definitely stayed within my comfort zone but I figured, what better way than to rip the band-aid right off? Benefit have won me over for the majority of this post & I can't wait to order, try and review this foundation. I'll be using the shade 'Ivory' as I'm quite pale due to England being so dull, it's hard to tan!

Benefit 'They're real' Double The Lip - Give me a dark lip and I'll love you forever. I don't know why but I prefer darker shades to lighter ones? Although this one comes in a range of colours, the ones I'm wanting to try are, 'Nude Scandal' & 'Juicy Berry' as they seem quite sophisticated colours.

Benefit Stay Don't Stray Concealer - My dark circles have meetings on how they want to discolour my face and make me look old, not joking. I discovered concealer in my final year of university when I thought it was funny to cake my face in it drunk... don't ask because I'm stumped too haha. Anyways, like foundation, I've only ever used Rimmel London concealer as it's my safety blanket and I need to woman up and try new things! I'll also get this in the shade Ivory to make me look more awake for the job that is slowly draining me.

Pixi H2o Skin Tint - This brand is the most talked about in recent months. Loads of people I watch on Youtube rave about it. I'm guessing the skin tint is a primer to wear underneath foundation if it isn't then oops ha, if it helps me look half decent then why not try it!

Pixi 'Hello Glow' Set - By far one of the prettiest sets I ever did see. Most definitely fell in love when seeing this and instantly added it to my wishlist (& my basket) because it looks so flawless. I have no idea what to expect with this trio but I am looking forward to trying them out.

Pixi by Petra Flawless and Poreless Primer - Must be craving primers or something! Although a primer that unclogs your pores sounds amazzzzing. This has to be the one product I am looking forward to trying the most 2 in 1, can't go wrong there at all!

Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation Primer - Mind that, foundations don't really make my skin oily just somewhat spotty after a few days. I've read upon Laura Mercier products and they seem rather good to use. Since this is oil-free, I'm intrigued to see how my skin reacts to its formula.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder - Never used a brightening powder and it's making me anxious thinking about it haha! But going in with an open mind, hopefully, I use it correctly. If anyone has any tips, feel free to help ya girl out as I'm no makeup expert at all (as you can probably tell).

Laura Mercier Lip Glacé - Lipglosses are my second favourite lip products to wear, so when I discovered this red shimmery gloss from Laura Mercier I felt the ultimate feels of a kid in a sweet shop. But admiring the lipgloss, It more or less jumped straight into my wish list.

July Favourites | 2017

Hola, everyone!

July for me was a good month. I have a few favourites that I wanted to share so here we go. I discovered a lot of new things, binge-watched television programmes and even achieved some goals, explored and had fun throughout. July was exciting, to say the least.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Theory test - All passed and ready to move onto my driving test. Took a lot of preparation and my advice would be to study for it. It might be 'common sense' but you learn more testing yourself before going in for the real thing.

New job - So throughout July, my new job started a few weeks earlier than planned. It's been an experience that's for sure. Juggling two jobs and a social life does become difficult but what gets me through it is knowing that I'll have enough income coming in before my operation takes place, so it'll be a stress-free two weeks of recovery! :)

Donating blood for the first time - Donating blood has always been something I wanted to do & it finally happened. As a first timer, it took a while to actually get prepared. It took two attempts to actually have my veins cooperate. I've always had an issue with my left arm veins acting up with blood tests so imagine a bigger needle trying to pierce it. Because of it dropping, we moved over to my right arm and SUCCESS... blood was flowing nicely. Although afterwards, I started to become lightheaded even though I had plenty of water & food... IT STILL MANAGES TO GET YOU. So if you're donating blood for the first time, don't try and leave if you feel unwell. This lasted a few days for me but I had annual leave so wasn't too bad. I'm booked in again for the 19th November & I can't wait :) You can sign up here if you're from the UK: NHS Blood Donation

ESSENTIAL FAVOURITES

Soap and glory hand food - my hands get really dry, especially through my job as a carer... there's no avoiding dry hands especially when you have to wear latex gloves (or powder free ones). I am obsessed with soap and glory, that's no secret. If you're new to my blog then check out previous favourites in the popular section and you'll see I'm not joking.
I carry this hand food everywhere I go, it's definitely keeping my hands less dry and icky. Couldn't recommend the stuff enough. You can find it here: Soap & Glory Hand Food

Dulcolax Tablets - I have a funny stomach. It's so temperamental I never know what mood it's going to be in. I guess you can say that about me too, being a Gemini and all ;) ha, jokes aside... if you're having trouble with bloatedness and indigestion, then try these. Take one at night time and it'll work wonders... 1 every 3 days should be enough and it's such a relief afterwards. A safer way than any other laxatives too. £1 from Asda Supermarket, can't go wrong.

Simple Wipes - Kind to skin & Radiance - face wipes can be irritable if you have weird skin. Welcome to my world if you do. I started using Simple after using the face scrub over a year ago and found the wipes cleared my skin. These wipes gave my skin a natural glow and cleared the excess dirt from my skin and OH MY GOODNESS, they're amazing. Do try them if you're looking for something to clear your skin, these help for sure.

Vaseline (cocoa butter) - Ok fine, you got me... I need to look after my lips more as I'm known for scraping the excess skin off when they are overly dry. We all have bad habits & that's one of mine. Recently, after stumbling over this cocoa butter vaseline, it's been my go to lip care and couldn't be more happy with the results. My lips haven't been as dry and this makes me happy, very happy in fact. Even my boyfriend said it smells nice and I guess if he kisses me, that's good right? haha.

MAKE-UP FAVOURITES

Rimmel London - Wake me up concealer - Nothing is more Godly than this product. I kid you not, it's literally saving my bags from imploding on my face. Fact.
I haven't used many concealer's but I more or less swear by this and use it every time I wear make-up without fail. You can find it here: Rimmel - Wake me up concealer

Lasting Finish Kate Lipstick, shade 30 - Every girl has a favourite lipstick. This has been my favourite since second year at University (two years ago... crazy!) I don't wear it very often, only for nights out, date-nights & family gatherings. I like darker shades as they suit more for my make-up looks and skin tone. The title says it all, it's a lasting finish lipstick and stays on for hours. I do sometimes have to reapply but then again that's very normal. You can find it here: Kate Lipstick - shade 30

Velvet Kiss Lip cream, shade Caramel 2 - If you're picky with matte lipsticks/glosses you'll adapt to this one very well. For £2.99 you can't really go wrong. I do wear this quite often and even picked up another one recently as it's amazing. Nude colours with a caramel hint are literally the best to finish off a simple or sophisticated make-up look. I'm not expert but if it works, it works... right? You can find it here: Velvet Kiss Lip Cream

PERFUME FAVOURITES

I don't usually wear perfume very much & if I do, it's always my Taylor Swift one... But recently, pondering through my wardrobe, I came across my "Golddigga Pink" perfume. I've had this since Christmas... I think. So I have no idea where it's from, but I assume it's relatively cheap. IT SMELLS SO GOOD, no joke. I'd highly recommend this if you're into the 'sweet' smells :)

TV FAVOURITES

Night Shift - If you have Netflix, do give this a watch. I love programmes where they focus on different types of medical aspects. With this series revolving around veterans who have served their country, it's quite inspiring and a very interesting storyline. As an ex- film and television student, if a programme has a good storyline & good intense plot, I'm sold.

Suits - It's no secret that I admire the law lifestyle, well the lifestyle television projects it as. (it's more or less how I imagine it to be) Suits is so addictive, very informative and it's got perfect dramatised plots... I AM OBSESSED. A few years ago within second year at Uni, I was very uncertain about watching it, at first I could get into it. Within final year of Uni, it was my hangover cure every other day (student life for you ha). Ever since, it's become apart of my routine especially because season 7 is now out on Netflix #notsponsored. I am loving how Donna is stepping her character up into a more challenging perspective, it's nice to see her in the limelight for once. She is literally a clear representation of my personality... sometimes.

Grey's anatomy - Where do I start? Last summer (2016) I got obsessed and it was unhealthy. Because my hours at work wasn't as hectic, every day becomes a "Greys Day" for me, with a cheeky dominoes on the odd chill day haha. I think the most emotional part of it for me was when George died... Like I couldn't fathom why they did SO LITTLE to save him. It still makes me angry even though they did what they could, it just seemed like they gave up on one of their own so freaking quick. This is how much it actually affected me... if you watch this & you cried, lets be friends.

That's all I have for now & this post has literally taken me a week or so to write haha. Can't wait to share my August Favourites in the next week or so!

January & February Favourites | 2017

Hola, everyone!

It's again that time to share what we have all been loving throughout the first and in my case, the second month of 2017.  I will try and link everything I can but some items were Christmas Presents ha. They're definitely super random, that's for sure! Sorry for the lack of posting recently, had a lot going on but now back to posting again!

If you have been following my posts throughout the times I did post content on/off for the last 2 years you'll know that I obsess over Soap and Glory... a lot. For Christmas, one of my friends bought me this soap and glory set and it's all I've been using throughout January. My favourite product is more or less the Hand Food as it smells so good. I take it everywhere, to work, to town, to my kitchen, everywhere haha.
The Clean on me is a really good shower gel, although after I used it my skin started to irritate so I eventually stopped using it when I figured it out. Love it regardless just don't think my skin does. Although my skin started to irritate using that one product, I tried to hydrate my skin again by using the Righteous Butter and OH MY GOD it more or less nursed my skin back to health. Amazing stuff. I'm still using Scrub of your life but so far I've been enjoying the freshness of it and how soft it's left my skin. Big heads up to whoever got me this, I've forgotten who haha, but it was a good surprise that's for sure :)

My mum seems to think I get stressed out easily with my job and tbh I have noticed that she's not wrong at all ha. So for Christmas, she surprised me with this BEAUTIFUL colouring book and I have not stopped using it. You can get them from pretty much anywhere in the UK such as; WHSmiths, supermarkets, Waterstones etc. But I have managed to locate this exact one from eBay and will link it down at the bottom of this post if you want to check it out!

Nak'd have been a brand I have a love-hate relationship with for the products they release. But recently I have picked up more packets of these delicious nibble bites than anything else I usually reach for. For me, this is a healthier choice and I have noticed that I've lost some lbs since the new year started and these do the trick to replace processed sugars and fats with energising balls of goodness :) Do try them, they're amazing!! I am still addicted even a month on haha.

Primark is probably one of those shops that I love and hate at the same time. More or less because whenever I go in with my mum and have no money I see so much I like. Then when I go back in everything I liked has gone, sod's law really. In January I was on the hunt for a necklace to wear for graduation as well as a dress. I didn't find a dress but I stumbled across this necklace and it was reduced so I snatched it and walked away very happy. I wear it so much and I freaking love it. I think it was £2 but cannot find it online so it must have been discontinued :(

I see so many people online that have MASSIVE makeup collections and then there's me with a little box of products that I use... safe to say I need to explore more when it comes trying out new makeup but at the moment I am stuck in my bubble of comfort. I actually chose this eyeshadow palette with my mum for a Christmas present and by time Christmas day came around I forgot I even chose it and was bouncing with joy when I saw it haha. My all time favourites to use are the Angel shade (2nd one in) Venice (3rd) Copper pot and sunkissed (5th & 6th). These are definitely my favourites to use and they blend so easily and quick lasting for a good length of time. Super affordable as well!

I must've spoken about my Graduation from January so much already (sorry...) but the day before my nerves kicked in and I needed some new makeup so I treated myself. I have some sort of trusting bond with Rimmel London products as near enough all my make up is by them. I can't really choose which is my favourite, but I have been enjoying the Rimmel London Kate Bronzer, Blush and Highlight Palette. I reach for it every day and I'm just in love with the texture and how easy it is to apply and blend also. The velvet kiss lip cream in the shade caramel 2 is heavenly to look at when applying regular makeup. It provides a bold touch to the makeup and compliments the lips as a whole, makes mine look so different. I love it.
I'll link everything down below!

Who doesn't like Taylor Swift? I've recently discovered this perfume in my wardrobe amongst a lot of others (I have a pretty big collection) and decided to start wearing it again. So so glad because it smells SO GOOD. I've had it for a few years and hopefully will get some more once I run out. Can we just admire the bottle? Purple with hints of gold glitter and writing... what's not to love? I adore it so much & it has been my go to perfume especially for date night with my now boyfriend :)

It's the little things that matter most to me, especially in the winter months. Although this damaged my stomach for the day, it was a lovely hot chocolate and definitely worth the pain. I can't drink milk at all anymore unless it's Almond milk... my body hates me haha. But how gorgeous does this hot chocolate look? I WANT ANOTHER but I can't :(

My mum is by far the cutest person ever. She wanted to make me feel somewhat loved on Valentines Day. I don't celebrate it and I wasn't with my boyfriend at the time, but I'm glad because it's one of those holidays that people waste money on when they should be treating their partner and loved ones/pets (lol) equally the same every day of the year, not just one day. But I did feel loved and well and truly merry with the bottles of wine. Her gift bag more or less sums me up as a person ha!!

Date night #1 - This is in my favourites because it was one of my favourite nights throughout February. I had the chance to wow my date and I think I did because he's now my boyfriend (i love saying that) so we decided to go to Relish in Doncaster - best decision ever! We had a lovely time, listening to live band music (it sounded like 50s swing, I loved it) and got to know each other over a lovely meal and walk afterwards, it was beyond perfect. One of the best nights ever that I'll embrace for a very very long time :)

Date night #2 - To me every time you spend time with someone, that's a date. We went bowling and I sadly lost 3 games... but my date being the great guy he is, let me win one at least. He will argue this into the ground and say he didn't, but he did ;) It was such a good night because although we had quality time to get to know each other properly, we bonded over something fun and chilled out. I couldn't be happier and wanted to document this to look back on :) I think I'm the only person thrown by there only being 28 days in February as I'm not willing to accept that we are now in March!

What's in my October Birchbox? | 2016

* This post is not an AD, all opinions are my own. All photo's are my own unless stated otherwise *

It's taken me a few days to write this as I've been super busy and wanted to try out the products. I've never had a subscription to Birchbox, so when I discovered it I was super excited to receive it and try out products I've never used before. As of right now I'm loving this box of goodies so so much and can't wait for my November box to arrive!
Throughout October, Birchbox had created star sign boxes with different things in for each zodiac sign. I got mine at random because I didn't have my birthday listed so that's why mine says Earth. If my birthday was listed I would have got Air, but I'm super happy with the one I got as the products are simply amazing.

The first product I used was the Doux Me pure spring mist/water (RRP £16*)
You can use this over your makeup which rests really nice on your face. It isn't heavy and it sets your makeup as well as freshens up your face. I've been reaching for this quite a lot as I have dry skin and this spray has given my skin the moisture it was lacking. First impression of this product is that it's amazing for your skin, hydrating your complexion whilst giving your skin the nourishment it needs. I would definitely recommend. I am definitely considering buying a larger bottle from the Birchbox website.

When I saw my full sized make up product in the box I was super excited. It's the LOC x Millie - Ultra gloss lip pencil in Bohemian Rose (RRP £9*)
Yes, this was designed and named by Millie Macintosh. However it not something I'd reach for on a daily basis. It's nice but I like my lipsticks/glosses to feel smoother and nourish my lips. This product didn't necessarily do that but it did look nice on. I'd recommend it to those who like a lighter lip but do apply a base first because it can dry out your lips, unless that was just me..? ha. Would I buy this in the future? I don't know, possibly.

Putting oils on your hair can be tricky, especially if you have frizzy hair like mine. Number 4 - Fluoro5 Elixer Restore and Repair Oil (RRP £18*)
Surely it's not just me who has been sceptical about hair oils? well, this one has done justice for my hair. No word of a lie... it has actually stopped it from getting frizzy (unless the rain catches me or I wake up with bed head..) but OH MY GOODNESS it's amazing. I am totally singing the praises of this brand because in my eyes, it's totally worth the money if it's going to make your hair feel 1000 times better. It's good for dry hair, split ends etc. and literally leaves your hair super soft after every wash. Definitely getting stocked up on this for sure!!

Sleep is becoming a thing for me where I don't get much of it as my body has other plans. So I was really excited to use This works - Deep Sleep Pillow Spray (RRP £16*)
If you're anything like me, using this spray actually helps you sleep for longer. Although I'm not a lavendar lover, I have enjoyed using this spray and the smell that lingers is just out of this world. Does it help you sleep better? oh yes definitely. It has helped my get to sleep so quickly over the last two weeks and I couldn't be any happier. I'm definitely going to introduce my family and friends to this! It's totally a God-send product if you struggle to sleep for long periods of time.

Okay so I haven't got round to using everything in the box. So the Rituals Hammam Body Mud (RRP £14*) & the Triology - Vital moisturising cream (RRP £24.50) have been untouched but I am getting round to using them and I cannot wait. I will most likely feature them in a favourites as I can tell I'm going to love them so very much :)

September Favourites | 2016

After a while of not doing favourites, I've decided it was nice to have a chatty blog post about what I have been enjoying throughout September. I'm hoping to keep up the regular posts, as the next few months are my favourite time of the year!

Body Products

When it comes to Soap and Glory, I fall weak on my knee's. I mean, who doesn't? Their products are out of this world!!! The Sugar Crush Body Buttercream is what I reach for most, whenever I'm in Boots. I think it's the best therapy for dry skin and for me, I suffer badly from dry skin especially in the Autumn and Winter months. It also smells AMAZING! What more do you want?

The next moisturiser I tend to reach for quite often is the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula body lotion. I use it every day if I'm not reaching for my soap and glory set, and it soothes my skin so nicely. As I've previously said, I regularly get dry skin and this product literally nourished my skin back to health. It smoothes marks, such as stretch marks, scars etc. and tones the skin. It has done my skin wonders and looks very healthy every day, which makes me feel great :)

I walk quite a lot, for my job as a Home care assistant I am constantly on my feet and it's started to split my skin. I apply Heel Genius every day, sometimes two times a day, depending on how sore they are. I have recently pulled off a lot of dead skin (ew!) off also and If I'm honest, this cream has allowed my feet to breathe and is slowly nourishing them back to health. As we speak, I am currently researching some new remedies to help the soreness of my feet, so if you have any suggestions, please comment some below :)

When it comes to deodorant I am very, very picky. I have to try new stuff all the time because having the same brand constantly, breaks my underarm skin and it's very painful. Recently I have been loving, Garnier Mineral UltraDry 48H deodorant and it's made my skin softer than usual and smelt fantastic! I'd highly recommend it. It's the one deodorant I have been able to stick with all Summer into the Autumnal season and It's great. I can't see myself changing anytime soon :)

Make-up Products

I'm no expert when it comes to putting makeup on like all these amazing beauty gurus on Youtube, but I have tried recently to reach out for new products. I have noticed as well, all my favourite makeup products are in fact by Rimmel London. I literally love their products!!

Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation has been my go to foundation all of September. Usually, I go for the red-capped foundation by Rimmel, but that started feeling heavy on my skin, so I changed to Match Perfection and I'm glad I did! It's proven to be very light on my face and hasn't created any rough patches on my cheeks, like other foundations, have in the past, so this foundation is a massive difference. I use the 100 Ivory shade, as my tan has now vanished and I need a bit of colour in my face.

Another product by Rimmel I have been loving is the Wake me up Concealer. Due to my job, I rarely sleep for 8 hours anymore and always seem to have dark circles under my eyes and it's hideous. So using this concealer helps me feel confident that it's masking up the tiredness underneath my eyes which is such a great feeling. I use this in the shade 010 Ivory, similar to my foundation and it blends in super well!

I don't like to 'draw' on my eyebrows, like what even is that and why is it a popular thing?? Filling them is what I see most people do and I think that's more acceptable as I use the Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil 001 Black, as it isn't too dark on my brows but gives them the boost they need in order to finish my makeup look. I also love the little brush on the end that may or may not have been the reason I bought it... ha!!

Books & Music

Throughout August beginning of September, I went through a break up that kind of pushed me back into a never ending circle of hating who I was. After a while of feeling gloomy, I decided to start reading in order to focus my mind on something else.
I began to read a book my mum loaned me called A Place to Call Home by Carole Matthews. It helped with focusing my mind and quite frankly it helped me find some peace with the recent events and I couldn't be happier for it. :) The book itself is so beautiful and the story is something you imagine as a little girl... Maybe in the future when I've completely finished it, I will do a book review or something. Definitely, a good read especially to escape real life situations.

Since x-factor 2012 I've been a huge fan of James Arthur. He randomly disappeared from the limelight until recently and I jumped for joy when he made his big comeback! His new single Say You Won't Let Go literally gave me goosebumps when I first heard it.

It's taken me a while to publish this, because soon I'll be doing my October favourites ha! But here are the few things I've been loving! there was a lot more but I didn't want to make the post super-long as my first official post back.

Much Love,
Jaydee xo
