Books I Got For My 25th Birthday!

I've sworn to myself a thousand times I will start reading properly again, or when starting to read a book, getting so drawn in with it you stop for a 'break' then never return to it, G U I L T Y. I'm that person... oops.
So for my 25th, all that I wanted was to get a collection of books and begin to get lost in them.
My family and partner pulled through and made me so happy helping me get my hands on JoJo Moyes' 'Me before you' collection. Since I was young, I've always loved reading - if you ever read the Jacqueline Wilson books, you'll agree to them being addictive and very adventurous. (If you know, you know).

This collection was a starting point for me to fall in love with reading again as it is very gripping, full of emotion and extremely romancified which is what I crave in a good book, which may not be everyone's cup of tea but I love a good romantic story.
If you've seen the film 'Me Before You', you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, then take my word for it when I say, JoJo will make you bawl your eyes out!
For me, I love that within a book. It's important for me to feel the emotion of the characters and to follow the storyline with ease until it gets to 3am and you've been so lost in the book you've skipped half your bedtime. That's when I know I'm reading something suited to my expectations and it gives that type of "wow" buzz throughout.

Now I've finished waffling on, thought I'd share the first three synopses' from the following;

Me Before You: Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend, Patrick. What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane. (I won't give too much away!)

Me After you: Lou Clark has lots of questions. Like how it is she's ended up working in an airport bar, watching other people jet off to new places. Or why the flat she's owned for a year still doesn't feel like home. Whether her family can ever forgive her for what she did eighteen months ago. And will she ever get over the love of her life... (Again, so gripping, won't share too much!)

Still Me: Lou Clark knows too many things... She knows how many miles lie between her new home in New York and her new boyfriend Sam in London. She knows her employer is a good man and she knows his wife is keeping a secret from him. What Lou doesn't know is she's about to meet someone who's going to turn her whole life upside down. (I already have so many questions!!!)

I would have kept going with the last two, but I think it's worth the suspense of waiting. If you're like me on that front you'll know how thrilling it is to stay on edge, or if I'm on my own here then... I'm not every sorry!
Still yet to start them and get lost within them, but thought I'd share some inspiration if you're looking for a new book to start. I'm hoping to do a full review soon so watch out for that.

Thanks for reading!

25 Things I've learnt before 25!

On Monday (June 3rd) I had the best day of turning 25. That's quarter of a century old, I can't quite believe it. Makes me wonder how fast life is going but I've learnt so much over my 25 years on this planet so I'm joining the bandwagon and sharing what I've been lucky enough to learn.

1. Love Yourself. Comparing yourself to other people isn't worth it. Learn to love your flaws and know they don't make you a shitty person. Embrace your body; your love handles, your belly, your pancake botty or even your uneven boobies. Nobody really cares at the end of the day so love what makes you, you.

2. Work isn't and shouldn't be your first priority. I've learnt when to take time off and say no to work. Don't to make it all about work. You miss out on so much working 24/7 for people who don't even care about you. If no one is willing to put you as a priority within your job, don't do it either.

3. Mums are ALWAYS right. If my mum is reading this she will be like "hell yeah I am" lol, no matter what, always listen to your mum whether its about friendships, relationships or life in general. She's never wrong.

4. Friendships come and go. Probably learnt more over the last year and the true meaning behind the word 'friend'. I've accepted that it's better to have a few true friends that support and love you than having fake ones who don't give a crap about you.

5. It's okay to ask for help. No matter how little, don't be ashamed to ask for help. Whether it's to put a washing line up or it's because you need someone to talk to. At some point in life, we've all been in that same boat.

6. Not everyone will like you & that's absolutely fine. I'm often surrounded by people who don't like me every single day, who act fake as the next to my face and if we're being honest... I really don't care who likes me or not anymore as it's not my problem :)

7. Know your worth. Don't stand for anything less to what you want/don't want. I'm still learning and implementing this into my life and I'm happy to finally be practising what I preach.

8. Prioritise your health. Never take it for granted, look after yourself. You only have one life.

9. There is no timeline for your life. If you're not where you want to be right now, that's fine! You will get to where you need to be in your own time. Forget what everyone else is doing and focus on yourself.

10. It's okay to walk away from toxic people/ situations. Whether it's a boy or girl you love, friends who you think you can't live without or a job that sucks the life out of you. IF IT DOESN'T MAKE YOU HAPPY, WALK AWAY.

11. Live in the moment. See life away from the screens, it's better that way and doesn't hurt your neck as much.

12. You can't please everyone. Don't waste your time trying to please others, it's an endless game of Tom and Jerry but less cute.

13. Social Media is a highlight reel, not real life. Don't get caught up in it, not everything is as it seems nor is everything 'behind the scenes' revealed.

14. Binge watching Greys Anatomy is a must. It will honestly change you and show emotions you didn't even know you had. Not even kidding.

15. Therapy isn't a bad thing. Speaking about how you feel to a complete stranger shouldn't be frowned upon. If anything it will help you become a better version of yourself and you see yourself/your struggles through a stranger's eyes.

16. Not everyone wants you to fail. Can't stress this enough. There are many supportive people in the world who want you to win in life. There's more wanting you to achieve your goals than fail them, so aim high and you will get there.

17. Always listen to your gut feeling. It's never wrong. If you feel uneasy about something, someplace or someone, don't ignore it. It's probably protecting you more than you think.

18. Everybody you meet knows something you don't. The best people to be around are those who you can chat to for hours and who have some epic stories to tell.

19. Finding who you are isn't a bad thing. Whether you break from a relationship/friendship or decide to have a spa weekend for one, finding yourself isn't a bad thing. Learn about yourself as it's so exciting and insightful.

20. Appreciate the little things. Appreciate the roof over your head, how lucky you are to still be breathing, how you can still tell someone you love them because life is too short. We never know when our last day will be.

21. Be the person you want to attract. I've always thought I attracted arseholes because at one point in my life I was one. What you put into the universe, you get back. Why not reinforce it into the people you want around you? :)

22. The best memories don't have to involve alcohol. Since leaving university, I've realised how crap drinking made me feel for days after, how I couldn't really remember things and how it triggered my anxiety, recently this happened and it just made me wake up. You can still enjoy life sober and to be honest, from personal experience, you create the best memories <3

23. You'll get broody for either a dog/cat or a baby at some point in your early 20s. Fact.

24. Not everything you lose is a loss. Everything happens for a reason, right?

25. Smiling makes the world a happy place. Smiling at strangers is the best feeling, you can see how much it makes their day. Especially with the elder folk, it's probably the only interaction they get once a day, so smile at people :)

So there you have it! What have you learnt in life so far?

Why It's Vital To Surround Yourself With People Who Inspire You | Social Media Edition

It's so important to follow people who inspire you or encourage you to be the best version of yourself. There's nothing worse than following a pessimistic 'influencer' on Social Media for them obstructive to their following 24/7 over the littlest thing. This post appeared here first on Just me, Jaydee xo.
I recently unfollowed someone who I used to love watching due to them being cynical about particular things and became so repetitive it actually started to affect my mental state. By that I mean, it began making me demoralised towards most things, depressed and just not a nice person to be around. Just note, that being constantly bleak about everything in life does affect those who support you, are around you etc. Crazy, I know but it is really happening. So, I made this rule that I'll only follow anyone that truly inspires me.

I'm not saying people aren't allowed to be negative, as we all have bad days. There's just a difference with being real and raw with your following and then there's constantly looking for reasons to be negative and unhappy with the littlest of things. It's sad to see and most of all it's the people who are considered 'followers' who suffer more. Mental Health is real which some people online, still don't seem to realise and it's hard to watch.
But there's the other hand of people that are talking/thinking/acknowledging mental health a bit more frequently across social media platforms who are choosing to educate themselves on it, I completely stand by that. However, it's up to us as 'followers' to keep our social media relatively positive so it doesn't make us unhappy and so we don't compare our lives to the people we visualise as 'perfect' in order to feel shitty about our own life. Following pessimistic individuals will cause this to happen.  It's vital to keep our mental health as a top priority and follow those that make us smile like a Cheshire cat and feel happy like when you're passionate about something.

So that being said, I have selected two YouTubers/Instagram Babes that I currently adore to watch and want to share their links as they're so down to earth, real and raw people. It's definitely lifted my Mental Health and I always feel somewhat happy with the content these girls produce.

Meggan Grubb

I've been following Meggan Grubb since 2017 and first found her channel through her 10,000 calorie challenge video. Crazy to think it was that long ago. I began to watch her other videos as I just saw how motivated she is and found her personality similar to mine. Watching her evolve over the last two years has been the best as she's always so smiley and positive, expresses herself well when she's feeling anxious or having a rubbish day and I can just relate on so many levels. Meggan is definitely someone I adore and will continue to watch on YouTube as her quirkiness picks me up after a hard day. It's rare you find somebody who is real and raw on social media and just has amazing energy. If you don't follow her on Instagram (@meggangrubb) you definitely should!

Sarah's Day aka Sezzy

I've recently just come across Sarah's Day this year. After seeing her pregnancy post online and the photo of her little love, Fox, I checked out her Instagram and instantly was like "this girl is so cool!" so I went to her youtube, watched some videos and I'm hooked. Also, the Australian accent is just HEAVEN. Sarah's whole vibe is what I live for, so upbeat and sassy, kind-hearted and inspiring. I was currently sat in a queue at 4:00am waiting for some of her activewear when writing this post, now if that's not dedication, don't know what is. I'm all for supporting other women and watching them grow within their journey. I admire the vibe this woman is bringing so many people around the world and her strength through her hardships with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) is admirable as it's something I'm currently having tested with my doctors. Sarah's youtube is full advice and it's just a blessing to have discovered her channel. After admiring Sarah's lifestyle and motivation to keep fit, I've used some of her tips to help me shed a few lbs and the results have been good so far! If you don't follow this girl, then please do! She's really inspired me to not only change my lifestyle but gave me hope with a lot of things as well.

What have you noticed about the people you follow, do you find yourself doubting yourself? If the answer is yes, then it's time for a revamp of your following/friends lists!

Coming Back to Blogging!

Well, it's certainly been a while since I sat at my laptop and came on here to do what I love. I needed to leave this platform at a standstill around New year and have some time away to process what's going on in my personal life and to you know, sort myself out properly. I've not posted anything in 4 months? well, anything considered 'proper' since I was rushed into surgery last October. It's been a Godsend to have a break to just unwind and to have that time to focus on myself for a while.

Another reason I took this break was so I could decide what content was going to be published on here. My thoughts clouded my goals for this blog, immediately jumping to the worst about my content which affected my creativity to the point all my enjoyment in blogging had faded as I was trying to be perfect, following trends and what everyone else is doing. So it got me thinking... I'm not going to keep worrying about what my 'Niche' is as I will post about anything and everything from Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle, Travel, Fitness and so on, more so to suit my desire to have my platform as an escape from what I HAVE TO be writing about, review, wear etc.
My blog was created more or less to be different, to show my personality. Even though there are some good points, I feel like I began to sink so I stopped posting.

The vision I have for this space to call my own is what I want to be fun and more relaxed. I often found myself comparing my blog to other peoples and it's a crap feeling. I don't have a theme yet, I used to but couldn't get my comments on it working. I don't have hundreds of followers or readers because I've been so out of touch with being on here recently, it's not really attracted anyone. I don't have the most high-end photo's or camera to take them on and that's ok. I'll work towards all that but for now, getting everything out my head and written down is my first goal.

I hope you enjoy this next step with Just Me, Jaydee.

Spring: A Few Things I'm Excited For

Spring is a good season to indulge in. I'm personally more of an autumn/winter kind of gal but I do love spring and summer months especially when I get to wear pretty clothes, burn in the sun and have nice long days with Strongbow in hand.

Photo cred: Jaydee Kelly (myself).
  • Brighter days - I'm all for long days with dark evenings but I do like the spring setting when all the picturesque views emerge too. Can't wait to go venturing around the countrysides in Sheffield and capture the beauty of different landmarks.
  • Clothing - I like spring clothes as the colours are always quite vibrant, I'd like to try new styles in order to produce exciting content on here - also it's nice to look back on :)
  • Home Decor - In spring there's much more to offer for home decor. I like to furnish my flat with as many sweet smelling candles as I can or get nice canvas' to fit the mood of it being spring. So excited to go shopping!
  • Activities - When warmer seasons come about, it seems there's more to do outside as it's more suitable for people to enjoy. This Spring I want to go hiking and see new places in my city and just experience new things to do. My biggest goal for the warmer seasons is to camp/hike around the Lake District as well.
  • Happier moods - If the sun is out, I'm smiling constantly. As I have a vitamin D deficiency whenever the sun is out, my mood is positive as my levels are higher. Weird, yes, but it makes all the difference and I can't wait. Although I don't really suffer badly in the winter months, it puts a positive spin on everything when Spring comes around.
What are you looking forward to in Spring?

What's on my wishlist? #2 | BooHoo | 2018

It's certainly been a while since I did a clothing wishlist.
BooHoo is my go-to/top favourite online clothing website. I've never struggled to fit into their clothes as their sizing is true to what they promote, the fitting of the clothing hugs your body and the quality is so good. I've learned that my fashion choices are very different to other peoples, but I enjoy the fact that although fashion is changing, I have my own little trends going on, which makes me feel ultimately confident. Everything that is shown will be linked below :)

It's all about "if it's comfy, it'll do" for me when it comes to clothes. I feel like the casual look is more fitting to my personality as being too bold scares the life out of me. Although, different colours are finally making an appearance to my wardrobe so that's a plus! I am hopefully going to try new styles along the way to liven up my outlook on fashion.
You can't beat a "nice top and a pair of jeans" can we girls? haha. I wanted to take a risk and stretch my style branch out a little bit. Although, these three numbers would look great for a family event, date night or drinks with friends. Personally, I reckon the second one would be perfect for an interview for that job you want.

I like to hide away my body in black clothing as I'm not 100% happy with my figure at the moment. Long story short, most of my black tops made it to the "charity" pile whilst I was moving so I'm definitely in need of some nice, smart/casual tops and dresses to liven up my wardrobe as at the moment, it holds clothes that I've had since my first year of University which was 5 years ago now (holy wow!).

Whenever I'm on BooHoo, I always go to the dress tab first. I love dresses, my collection was once HUGE but unfortunately, when they start to grow too big for you, it's time to say bye. These three dresses have made me want to jump with happiness as 1. they're in my size, 2. I think they'd look alright in the Spring/Summer months & 3. They are incredibly gorgeous. Very plain yes, but it gives me so many ideas on what to add to it, dressing it up or down, can't go wrong!

A girl can never have too many jeans right? I have about 3 pairs currently which makes me so eager to get more. My style of jeans/trousers are so here there and everywhere that even I don't know if I have a particular aim with the fashion choices that are selected, but ah well. I guess if they look nice and are comfy then it's a winner! These above are definitely the type of styles I'm hoping to merge into my small collection.

My wardrobe lacks smart clothing, it really does. I came across these items and instantly fell in love. The grey and mustard dress (right) is so nice but the red one (left) caught my attention and I love them both. Good job this is just a wish list, for now, so I don't get ahead of myself and buy everything ha!

I've never really been one for bodysuits but as I want to try and tone up and wear more things that are a slight risk to my wardrobe, this bodysuit definitely stood out for me. With a nice pair of jeans, booties and the jacket on the right, it would make a killer outfit. Well, in my head it would.

Last but no means least, booties are my FAVOURITE type of shoe. I always find it super difficult to find ankle boots that actually suit my style and fit my clown feet (I'm a size 7, crazy!). In summer or when going out for a few bevvy's these type of boots are my go-to with most outfits; dresses, a nice top and jeans, jumper and jeans etc. you name it, I wear it. Payday is going to be one nice day that's for sure ;)

What's your favourite item currently on your wishlist? :)

A letter to 26 year old me | 2018

Dear 26-year-old, Jade.

I'm writing you this sat at my dining table, after having a horrible day. I'm hoping you're smiling reading this and embracing the fact that you're happier than ever, without a care in the world.

How are you? I hope you're well. I hope your depression and anxiety is very minimal now you've moved on with life. If not, don't worry - you'll get there. You went through years of hell, you deserve to be happy and I'm pretty positive this is the case. I've always had faith that you'd find happiness, especially throughout the darkest days. Life has a funny way of testing you doesn't it?

I bet you got that job you wanted/dreamt about, making the big numbers and kicking ass every day showing people how great you are. Don't forget how much you've grown in the last three years, there's still a lot of work to do, of course. Just promise me this; Never lose sight of happiness or your dreams. Don't let anyone take away your smile & certainly don't take shit from shitty employers, that is in the past!

Pretty sure you're at your peak in life, whatever road you're currently down. It's exciting thinking about the future and what it holds. I have high hopes for you, Jade. Strive to be the best at everything you do and never settle for anything less.

26 eh? blimey, that went fast. I couldn't be more proud of where you are now. You've handled life better than I thought you would and I'm so proud.

What's next for you? I'd love to hear what 26-year-old Jade is doing and how she is.
Can't wait to hear from you.

Love always,
23-Year-old, Jade xxx

My 2018 Travel Bucket List

I've always wanted to Travel. Document the world and share it from my personal perspective. Growing up, my family and I never really went abroad, just on family weekends due to personal reasons. Although, it was just as fun; but now I've grown up, I want to experience the world so one day I can share stories, photographs, and memories with my children and grandchildren. These are my top 5 places to visit:

Paris - I've seen some of my favourite Bloggers/YouTubers jet off to the iconic City of Love recently and it has given me so many feels. A little girls dream, go to Paris and fall in love with the sights, the food, and the people. Definitely, something I'd like to share with Ash in the near future. One place I'd love to visit is the lock bridge; just visualising how romantic that would be, reading upon what other people have placed there... I'd love to write something dedicated to my love life and re-visit every year to add something new. A girl can dream, right? Well, this is my goal of a lifetime and I won't stop until it happens!

Ireland - The home of Guinness, I mean... who doesn't love Guinness? I am obsessed. Being 1/4 Irish will have its perks. Exploring a city close to heart and not too far from home will be so comforting. I love seeing what other's have to say about Ireland and soon, I'll be able to add my take on things which is exciting.

Santorini, Greece - Whenever someone asks me where I want to visit on holiday, Santorini is usually my answer without thinking. It's so beautiful and just makes my heart explode thinking about it. Imagine, sitting around the villa pool with your closest people; boyfriend, best friends, family etc. with cocktails in hand; admiring the lovely views. Yep, I'm ok with that! Hopefully get to visit throughout the Summer if I win the lottery or sell an organ haha.

Germany - If having friends from your childhood living in Germany, isn't a massive saviour for travelling then I don't know what is. It's been a while since seeing them so a catch up is in order, alongside viewing the cities sights, going to the football and drinking your body capacity in beer. I've always wanted to hold a Stein glass and compare it to my height, weird right...? Oktoberfest is also on my to-do list with Ash, as we both want to experience the whole illusion of German culture and what better way to do it :)

Canada - HOME OF THE ICE HOCKEY... could I say that any calmer? I think not. Ice hockey is one of the main sports I love. No joke, this is the main reason I'd like to visit Canada, to go to a game and probably cry the whole time I'm there... Wish that was sarcasm but it's the absolute truth.

What places do you want to visit throughout 2018?

I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST | 2018

Property of Jaydee Kelly.

I HAVE FINALLY PASSED MY DRIVING TEST. If you read my January favourites you'd know that it took a while for me to get to this stage. The process of getting my driving certificate/license was so overwhelming and very difficult.
So if being anxious/nervous on the day of your test wasn't bad enough, having nasty examiners made it worse entirely. My first test - the examiner was a complete A-hole (just to put it nicely) and failed me for the most ridiculous things. I felt like giving up there and then because it was embarrassing having to go through all that stress for the examiner to be malicious, costing me my license.
That didn't stop me; after rebooking another test I was still a nervous wreck and it showed within my driving. I felt sick to my stomach hearing the words "Sorry that you haven't passed" for the second time and cried all the way home thinking "will I ever get through?" - it's hard especially when your family are first/second time passed & then there's me who feels like a complete failure. Although, my mum and step-dad supported me 100%, giving me hugs and encouraging me to give it another go.
22nd February 2018 - Three years ago my Aunty lost her battle with Cancer, it still doesn't feel real. So to have my driving test on this day, made me feel so emotional and very very anxious. This may sound odd, but it's like she was there to hold my hand throughout my test & I PASSED, I passed this driving malarky with flying colours and held back my tears because it was such a special moment to have passed on my Aunty's anniversary... still so surreal and it makes me beyond happy to know the 22nd February will always be a special day to me, to remember a beautiful woman and celebrating the fact I made her extremely proud, alongside my mum who nearly cried and came to find me just to congratulate me haha. It's definitely a day to remember and to finally say I'm no longer a learner driver is giving me goosebumps. My examiner was so lovely and I can't thank her enough for making this day more special. It was worth going through hell with my driving test(s) just to have this memory. Safe to say I didn't nor will I ever take it for granted.

ADVICE...

If you're worried about passing the first time, don't be. You'll pass when you are ready whether that's the first time, fifth time or tenth time... you will get there. Please don't put pressure on yourself just because friends and family have passed the first time. Be proud of your achievements because at the end of the day; A PASS IS A PASS and nobody cares how many attempts it took. If they do, they aren't worth being around.

GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE GOING IN FOR THEIR TEST - YOU GOT THIS! :)

2018 Blogging Goals

I've been blogging for around 3 years now, on and off. My love/hate relationship with my blog has finally paid off. Suppose you can say it's been hit and miss for the last couple of years. Alongside a full-time job, it's difficult to remain upbeat and excited about your content when all you want to do is sleep and unwind after a long shift. That was my life for the last year and a half and since the back end of last year, it all changed & I had more time to post the content that inspired me to write.

 * Property of Jaydee Kelly *

Blogging is my escape, from everything going on in life. I love being able to sit down at my laptop and put my all into content for this blog. Some posts don't make the final cut but it's nice to look back on, giving myself ideas of where to improve or how I can develop my writing style into something more promising. This blog began in 2015 - it was a distraction from my depression while in the second year at University. Safe to say not much content was produced until my final year studying but even then it suffered.

Lets fast forward to now... Recently my blog has been my fresh start to expressing my love for writing and content I love reading from other people - of course, putting my own spin on things. I love it. Although it's a case of still finding a rhythm for my little platform, it's a nice learning curve.

WHAT MY GOALS FOR MY BLOG ARE...
  • Create exciting content - Recently, I've decided to keep my blog about a bit of everything, under the 'Lifestyle' tab. If you can't use your platform to express yourself and what you have experienced, loved, cooked, made or bought etc. then what can you use it for? The aim of my content is so my audience can get to know me through what I choose to post. From a range of topics; Travel, Beauty items, haircare, film and tv, books, music, food, fitness etc. You name it, It'll make an appearance on here eventually. Heres to an exciting blogging year!!
  • Make a difference - Whether that's working alongside a charity or giving back to those on the streets; I want to strive to make a difference while documenting it all on here. Not for "bragging" material, just because the world needs more love and inspiration than the controversy it's at now.
  • Meet new people - It would be nice to meet other bloggers and share experiences, learn new things and inspire one another to be the best we can be. I'm all for making new friends and meeting new people along a new journey and I'd love to have a few close friends who share the same ambitions as me with blogging and want to see the world.
  • Travel - As someone who has never left the U.K I would love to travel and blog my experiences! It's a promising goal to do something so creative and share the world through my eyes on here.
  • Expanding opportunities; Working alongside NEW & Favourite brands - The feeling of being able to work with a brand that I adore literally gives me goosebumps. For me, my biggest goal is to work alongside The Bodyshop and create some upbeat content on here, vlog an experience of working with them & produce something so exciting. A girl can dream, right?
  • Be a full-time blogger - This is my ultimate dream. I decided to make my blog more lifestyle as it's full of a range of things that I personally love & would like to engage other people in. To know that my content is making someone's day or any advice I post is helping at least one person, will mean the absolute world to me. It's nice knowing there are people out there that support your rambles and like the content you post. Very motivating!

What are your goals for blogging this year?
